Why are Americans so casual, even in professional settings?

Americans have this thing where they’re super chill — even when they’re not. You’ll meet CEOs in jeans, teachers who go by their first names, and coworkers who call meetings while walking their dog.

Formality is out; “relatable” is in.

It’s part of that friendly, open, let’s-be-buddies attitude. But don’t let the casual tone fool ya — people still take their work seriously. They just do it while sipping iced coffee and sending emojis in Slack.
